Location: London, Chatham or Wolverhampton – 3 days in the office

An exciting specialist challenger bank is looking for a Senior Risk Manager to play a leading role in how Data Risk is governed across the organisation. This is a senior position with real visibility, where you’ll provide independent second line oversight, manage a small team, and work closely with senior stakeholders across Risk, Data, Technology and Change.

This role sits at the heart of how the business thinks about data. You’ll take ownership of the Data Risk Framework, making sure data-related and data-dependent risks are understood, challenged and managed in line with risk appetite, regulatory expectations and best practice. You’ll act as a trusted second line partner to the Chief Data Office, providing constructive challenge while also helping the business stay ahead of emerging risks.

You’ll also work closely with the Group Transformation and Change Risk Director and the wider Operational Risk function, helping embed a consistent and proportionate approach to data risk across the group. This includes oversight of data integrity, availability and resilience, as well as dependencies on critical data assets, third-party providers and external platforms.

It’s a broad and evolving role, combining leadership, judgement and technical depth. From supporting RCSAs and scenario analysis, through to providing second line opinion on strategic initiatives, model and analytics risk, and the responsible use of data and AI, you’ll have genuine scope to influence how data risk maturity develops over time.

So, if you experience in:

• Providing second line oversight and challenge across Data Risk within financial services
• Designing, embedding and maintaining Data Risk frameworks, policies and controls
• Working with first line teams to support robust RCSA processes and effective control environments
• Assessing risks linked to data integrity, availability, resilience and critical data assets
• Integrating data risk considerations into wider operational risk appetite and reporting
• Leading or contributing to data risk assessments, scenario analysis and governance forums
• Managing a small specialist team and delivering against an annual risk plan

And have:

• Extensive experience in a senior Data Risk or data-related risk role
• Strong knowledge of data governance, information management and regulatory expectations
• An understanding of third-party and concentration risks linked to data and platforms
• Exposure to model and analytics risk, including AI/ML considerations such as bias, drift and explainability
• The confidence to engage, challenge and influence senior stakeholders
• A collaborative, thoughtful approach with strong analytical, organisational and communication skills
