Nanook is a specialist investment manager applying rigorous quantitative modelling to global energy markets. We are expanding our Quant Fundamentals team and are seeking a Senior Quant Analyst to own and develop models that explain and predict complex dynamics driving global Gas and Power prices, while providing mentorship and guidance to the wider team.
The RoleYou’ll join a team of quants building large-scale models across global Gas and Power markets, using data to quantify relationships, test hypotheses, and generate forecasts.
Prior energy market experience is not required
; we value strong quantitative modelling skills and the ability to learn new domains quickly.
- Analyse large, noisy datasets to identify key relationships and insights
- Build, validate, and maintain predictive models to explain system behaviour
- Estimate model parameters and quantify uncertainty using appropriate statistical techniques
- Apply machine learning and advanced data science methods where appropriate
- Take end-to-end ownership of significant modelling projects, delivering results directly to stakeholders
- Mentor and guide junior team members, supporting their development
- Several years’ experience in a quantitative or data science role
- Proven experience leading technical delivery of projects
- Experience mentoring junior colleagues
- Experience building statistical or predictive models from real-world data
- Strong understanding of probability, statistics, and econometrics/time-series analysis
- Experience working with large datasets and SQL (T-SQL/MySQL or similar)
- Programming experience in Python and/or R
- Strong academic background in a quantitative subject (e.g., Maths, Physics, Engineering, Economics, Computer Science)
- Experience with machine learning, including neural networks
- Familiarity with Tensor Flow/Keras
- Experience with Git, SQL, and deploying models to production
- Research-driven modelling problems tackling real-world energy and market dynamics
