Job Description
The Sun is the biggest news brand in the UK, publishing hundreds of stories a day and reaching 25m readers each month (PAMCo). Its exclusives set the news agenda and its campaigns have changed the lives of many. Delivering news, entertainment, and sports coverage to millions of readers every day. With a rich history spanning decades, we are dedicated to providing accurate, insightful, and engaging content across print and digital platforms.
Your Team: Our hugely successful, award-winning Audience Development team sits at the core of our publishing operation and is constantly evolving, growing new audiences, and building engagement and loyalty with our readers.
Your Role: We’re looking for a Video Analyst to work in our fast-paced newsroom and provide support to the Audience department, journalists and editors - from day to day performance updates to longer term analysis. You’ll need to be able to extract insight from data using various analytics tools and present it in a clear way for stakeholders.
Day to day you will:
Monitor and analyse our video performance on a daily and weekly basis across You Tube, Meta, Tik Tok and more
Provide insight and make recommendations to our newsroom in order to grow our audience
Liaise with the Audience and Video departments to build our video strategy and long-term projects
Proactively analyse our video performance and make data-led recommendations
Work closely with The Sun’s Audience Managers as well as News UK’s central analytics team
Decide what tools we should use to maximise our understanding of our traffic
Provide deep-dive performance reporting on Sun Originals portfolio, identifying which formats drive the highest loyalty and "appointment viewing" behaviors
Track the migration of our audience from social feeds to CTV, helping us understand the full lifecycle of a Sun Video viewer.
With CTV playing a bigger role than ever, analyze how our content performs on the "big screen" alongside social platforms like Tik Tok, Meta, and You Tube.
What we’re looking for from you:
Experience with web and video analytics tools, including You Tube studio and other platform analytics tools
Knowledge of Google Looker Studio and other data visualisation tools such as Tableau
Advanced Excel skills and experience of working with large data sets
Ability to work in a fast-based news environment while also running longer-term projects
Strong communication and presentation skills, both written and oral, with the ability to translate data effectively for those who are not familiar with it
Confidence in delivering and presenting actionable insights and analysis to stakeholders
A logical approach and problem solving skills, with the ability to draw meaningful conclusions from disparate and incomplete sources
Understanding of complex business questions and be able to frame the right analytical questions
