A forward-thinking Insurer is seeking a Data Science Manager to lead the development and deployment of AI-driven solutions that enhance underwriting, claims and digital trading performance.
This role sits at the forefront of the organisation’s AI transformation agenda. You will lead a growing team responsible for embedding Generative AI into core insurance workflows moving beyond traditional analytics to intelligent automation, decision support and underwriting augmentation.
The OpportunityAs Data Science Manager (GenAI), you will:
- Define and deliver the roadmap for Generative AI use cases across underwriting and claims
- Lead a team building production-grade AI applications powered by LLMs and advanced ML
- Partner with Underwriting, Actuarial, Operations and Technology to identify high-impact GenAI opportunities
- Develop AI-enabled solutions to improve submission triage, document processing, loss classification and risk assessment
- Ensure strong governance, model validation and regulatory alignment across AI deployment
- Present GenAI strategy and measurable outcomes to senior leadership
- Design and implement LLM-powered workflows for underwriting and claims support
- Develop intelligent document processing solutions for slips, endorsements and bordereaux
- Build conversational AI tools and knowledge assistants to support underwriting decision-making
- Integrate Generative AI into digital trading and broker engagement processes
- Collaborate with Data Engineering to deploy scalable Azure-based AI solutions
- Establish best practice across prompt engineering, model evaluation, monitoring and governance
- Experience leading Data Science or AI teams within Insurance or Financial Services
- Hands‑on experience working with Generative AI and Large Language Models
- Strong Python programming expertise
- Experience deploying ML/AI solutions into production environments
- Familiarity with Azure AI, OpenAI integrations, or similar platforms
- Strong stakeholder management skills and ability to communicate complex AI concepts clearly
- Solid grounding in statistical modelling and machine learning principles
