Data Engineer
Location: Greater London
Main Responsibilities
- Operates in line with the Bank's Risk Management framework (including sub-frameworks) and relevant risk and compliance policies and procedures, ensuring appropriate and timely escalation of any concerns to their line manager.
- Designs logical data models in the Finance domain, aligned with the bank’s conceptual data model, to capture the organization's data requirements to support reporting, analytics, and operational use cases.
- Collaborates with data stewards and subject matter experts to develop the logical data models aligned with business requirements when conceptual data models are not available and to confirm internal reference data in the Finance domain.
- Inputs into the development of the bank’s conceptual data model and how it is applied.
- Works closely with Data and Solution Architects on projects to support the completion of high level solution architecture and low level designs.
- Collaborates with delivery teams developing physical data models and domain APIs to ensure that the logical design is accurately interpreted and represented. Provides documentation and guidance on data model usage and maintenance.
- Develops and maintain data dictionaries, metadata and Entity Relationship diagrams using modelling and architecture tools (e.g., ER Studio, Erwin, Sparx EA). Supports the definition of data lineage, master data and reference data frameworks.
- Provides guidance to teams on data modelling techniques, fostering a culture of data literacy and promoting the value of structured, well‑governed data.
- Contributes to the development and maturation of the data modelling standards, naming conventions and design patterns by establishing best practices, frameworks and standards for enterprise‑wide data management and analytics.
- Designs data models and ensures implementation adheres to security and data privacy controls. Ensures compliance with relevant data protection regulations and industry standards.

- Expertise in Conceptual and Logical Data Modelling in the Finance domain in complex enterprise environments preferably in the Financial Services industry.
- Experience of deriving Physical data models from Logical data models.
- Knowledge of Industry Reference data models and application of ontologies.
- Strong understanding of Data warehousing, Master data and metadata management concepts, principles, and best practices.
- Knowledge of data governance frameworks and data quality management principles.
- Understanding of integration architecture, such as APIs, ETL and messaging systems.
- Understanding of security and privacy requirements in data management.
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
- Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.
