Senior Technical Writer
Company Descriptionis a global payments technology company powering billions of transactions each year across 19 offices worldwide. The hybrid working model allows three days a week in the office.
Job OverviewReporting directly to the Senior Manager of Tech Writing, the Senior Technical Writer will develop clear, consistent, high‑quality technical content covering documentation, API reference, and support sites. You will work closely with product, engineering, design, and marketing teams to produce developer‑friendly materials that align with the Docs‑as‑Code approach.
Responsibilities- Write and maintain technical documentation, API reference, and support site content.
- Collaborate with writers, designers, marketers, and engineers across multiple disciplines.
- Use Git and Docs‑as‑Code practices to manage content.
- Document complex APIs, including OpenAPI (OAS) specification.
- Advocate for user needs and incorporate feedback into content.
- Track usage analytics and user research to improve documentation.
- Leverage emerging tools, such as AI, to increase individual and team productivity.
- Experience in online payments and/or SaaS.
- Strong understanding of Git and the Docs‑as‑Code approach.
- Experience documenting complex APIs and reading code in at least one programming language.
- Familiarity with JSON, YAML, and Markdown.
- Knowledge of the OpenAPI (OAS) specification.
- Experience with content analytics and user research.
- Curiosity about AI tools and how they improve content.
- Think in systems and see how your work fits into the broader product.
- Strategic and tactical, able to balance trade‑offs.
- Place users at the core of content design.
- Understand multiple audiences: developers, business analysts, and payment specialists.
- Build strong relationships and welcome feedback.
- Navigate uncertainty, set clear objectives and timelines.
- Accountable, quality‑focused, iterative.
- Self‑motivated and able to work independently.
- A passion for learning and sharing knowledge with the team.
- Month 1:
Familiarise with content repositories and fix minor issues. - Month 2:
Master API reference repository structure and take on complex tasks. - Months 3‑4:
Research and document new features, review others' contributions. - Month 5:
Proficient writer, advocate for users, work autonomously. - Month 6:
Fully comfortable in the product area, use analytics to inform documentation.
