Systems Engineer, IT Infrastructure
About The Venue Role Purpose
We are looking for an Infrastructure Engineer to join the Enterprise Technology team at Oak View Group, reporting to the Head of Enterprise Technology. This is a hands‑on individual contributor role with scope to lead infrastructure projects, act as a senior escalation point for complex issues and drive continuous improvement across OVG’s UK and European venue estate.
You will be the technical expert that both operational and technology teams turn to when infrastructure gets complicated — someone who understands how to build and sustain resilient, high‑availability environments inside some of the world’s most demanding live‑event venues, and who can communicate clearly with both technical teams and non-technical stakeholders.
What You'll Be Doing- Designing, deploying and maintaining on-premises and hybrid cloud infrastructure across OVG venues in the UK and Europe, including network, server, storage and virtualisation layers.
- Providing escalation support for infrastructure incidents — diagnosing, troubleshooting and resolving issues efficiently with full ticket tracking via the OVG IT service management platform.
- Leading infrastructure work streams for venue openings and technology refresh projects, including planning, vendor coordination and end‑to‑end delivery.
- Carrying out proactive capacity planning, health monitoring and preventative maintenance across all venue infrastructure environments.
- Acting as subject matter expert for infrastructure technologies, producing clear runbooks, SOPs and technical documentation for operational and support teams.
- Collaborating with Retail and Hospitality Technology teams to identify and resolve site‑based connectivity, integration or platform dependency issues that affect event‑day operations.
- Managing relationships with vendors, ISPs and third‑party partners to deliver timely issue resolution and infrastructure improvements.
- Identifying and championing continuous improvement opportunities across reliability, performance, security posture and operational efficiency.
- Providing on‑site technical presence at venues during major events, go‑lives and infrastructure deployments where remote support is insufficient.
- Networking:
Cisco / Meraki (switching, routing, wireless) - Virtualisation: VMware vSphere / Hyper‑V
- Cloud:
Microsoft Azure / Microsoft 365 / Azure AD - Storage: SAN / NAS platforms
- Monitoring:
Solar Winds, PRTG or equivalent - Security:
Firewall management, endpoint security, patch governance - ITSM:
Service Now or equivalent ticketing and asset management platform
- Major stadia and arenas — high‑capacity, event‑critical environments
- Concert halls, theatres and entertainment complexes
- High‑volume food and beverage operations within venues
- Premium hospitality, fine dining and VIP event spaces
- Back‑of‑house operational and broadcast infrastructure
An experienced infrastructure professional with a proven track record of delivering and supporting enterprise‑grade environments — ideally within live events, sports, entertainment or similarly time‑critical, high‑availability sectors.
- 3+ years in an infrastructure engineering or senior support role within a multi‑site or multi‑venue environment.
- Hands‑on experience across networking (routing, switching, Wi‑Fi), server virtualisation and Microsoft cloud platforms.
- Solid understanding of network security principles, firewall management and patch management disciplines.
- Experience supporting infrastructure during live events or in operationally demanding, high‑pressure environments.
- Strong vendor and stakeholder management skills — comfortable owning supplier relationships and escalations.
- Clear communicator able to translate complex technical issues for non‑technical operational teams.
- A self‑starter who can plan and deliver infrastructure projects with minimal oversight.
This is a London‑based role with occasional regional travel for major openings and deployments. Salary is £48,000 to £52,000 depending on experience.
Core hours are Monday to Friday, with planned out‑of‑hours and weekend availability expected around major operational moments — these are scheduled in advance, not ad‑hoc.
