We’re looking for a Data Engineer (Grade 11) to join the Architecture function at Elexon on a permanent basis.

In this role, you’ll play a key part in designing, building, and optimising the data infrastructure that underpins Elexon’s cloud‑based Data Analytics Platform

, Analysts, and business stakeholders, you’ll help deliver scalable

, and high‑performing data pipelines and products that support Settlement and the wider GB electricity market

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable data pipelines and ETL/ELT processes
• Build and optimise cloud‑based data solutions to support analytics, reporting, and operational systems
• Ensure data quality, integrity, and reliability across multiple data sources and platforms
• Develop and maintain data models, storage solutions, and integration frameworks
• Support the ingestion and processing of large‑scale electricity market and Settlement datasets
• Collaborate with Data Scientists and Analysts to enable advanced analytics and machine learning use cases
• Implement monitoring, logging, and alerting processes to ensure platform stability and performance
• Apply Data Ops and engineering best practices for automation, testing, deployment, and CI/CD
• Optimise performance and cost efficiency of cloud data platforms and processing workloads
• Contribute to data engineering standards, governance, documentation, and best practices

• Strong experience in Data Engineering, Data Platform, or ETL development roles
• Strong SQL and Python skills for data processing and transformation

• Experience working with large and complex datasets in cloud environments
• Understanding of data modelling, warehousing, and data architecture principles
• Experience with cloud‑based data platforms such as Azure and Databricks
• Familiarity with orchestration and workflow tools such as Azure Data Factory or similar
• Understanding of CI/CD, automation, and Dev Ops/Data Ops practices
• Ability to troubleshoot and optimise data pipeline performance and reliability
• Comfortable working in cross‑functional, Agile environments
• Experience with in energy, utilities, or regulated industries (desirable)

• Salary – £55,000
