What You'll Do:

As a Data Governance Manager, you will play a pivotal role in shaping how our client manages their data. Your responsibilities will include:

Framework Development:
Define and maintain data governance frameworks, policies, and standards, transforming strategic objectives into clear, actionable artefacts.
Data Quality Assurance:
Establish and oversee data quality standards, metrics, and ownership, ensuring consistent monitoring and reporting across various domains.
Data Classification:
Implement data classification, metadata, and catalogue practices, ensuring effective handling and discoverability of data assets.
Secure Data Sharing:
Craft and implement policies for safe and compliant data sharing, aligning with regulatory requirements.
Governance Processes:
Define governance processes, embedding preventative controls and checkpoints throughout delivery life cycles.
Operational Integration:
Embed governance into daily operations through data contracts and lifecycle controls, providing guidance to stakeholders.

Risk Management:

Identify and manage data risks, ensuring that governance controls meet all regulatory, security, and assurance needs.
Promote Data Literacy:
Capture and share governance standards and practices to enhance organizational data literacy and foster consistent adoption.

What You Bring:

To be successful in this role, you should possess the following qualifications:

Essential:

Proven experience in defining and implementing data governance policies and frameworks.
Strong understanding of data quality management, metadata, and data lifecycle governance.
Ability to translate strategic insights into practical implementation artefacts.
Excellent collaboration skills to work across business and technical stakeholders.
Experience working with or alongside consultancies.

Desirable:

Knowledge of regulatory environments (e.g., Ofgem, energy sector).
Familiarity with federated data operating models or data mesh concepts.
Experience embedding governance into product or delivery life cycles.
