Position: Knowledge Analyst - Law

Knowledge Analyst – Law – London

An opportunity for a Knowledge Analyst has arisen within an extremely reputable London based international law firm. This role sits within the legal technology practice of the firm and plays a key role in the development and optimisation of the firm’s knowledge and data capabilities. Working at the intersection of knowledge management, legal tech and AI, the position supports the firm’s intranet and collaboration platforms, know-how and precedent databases, and enterprise search and AI-enabled systems.

It is also a key component in driving forward the firm’s use of data, search and emerging technologies, alongside its established culture of knowledge sharing and collaboration.

The key responsibilities and objectives of the role include, but are not limited to:

  • Assist in the creation of intranet pages and team sites on the enterprise collaboration portal, with a focus on structuring and tagging content to optimise search and AI performance
  • Partnering with the intranet’s content editors on a day-to-day basis to ensure consistency in posting, editing and tagging, with an increasing emphasis on metadata quality and discoverability
  • Supporting Knowledge & Data and AI-related projects, including trialling proposed new systems, features and tools, and providing feedback and recommendations
  • Maintenance and ongoing development of the firm’s legal taxonomies, metadata structures and classification frameworks, including input into rules that underpin automated and AI-driven processes
  • Working closely with internal stakeholders to optimise the quality and accessibility of the firm’s know-how, helping to drive adoption and effective use of knowledge systems across practice areas
  • Acting as a key point of contact for knowledge lawyers and other users, supporting the structuring and curation of content within the firm’s central knowledge systems
  • Collaborating with IT and other teams to coordinate the testing, development and ongoing optimisation of the firm’s knowledge, search and AI-enabled systems
  • Supporting the evaluation of search and AI outputs, helping to improve accuracy, relevance and overall performance
  • Production of statistical usage reports and analysis of the firm’s knowledge systems, using insights to inform continuous improvement
  • Building continued momentum in the visibility, use and effectiveness of the firm’s knowledge and data tools across the business
  • Contributing to initiatives that promote engagement with knowledge systems and encourage a more data-driven approach to knowledge sharing

To be suitable for this role, candidates will need a mix of the following experience and skills:

  • Previous experience in a knowledge management or information services role in a legal, corporate or professional service environment (likely 1–2 years’ experience)
  • Demonstrable experience working with knowledge systems, digital content platforms or enterprise search tools
  • An understanding of metadata, taxonomies or related data structuring principles, and an interest in how these support search and AI technologies
  • An aptitude for using and learning new technology or systems, with a strong interest in AI and emerging legal tech tools
  • Highly organised, methodical and detail-oriented approach to work
  • Highly developed communication and relationship-building skills
  • The ability to contribute to projects and manage tasks independently where required
  • A critical thinker that enjoys the challenge of problem solving, particularly in relation to data, systems and processes
  • Able to demonstrate the ability to be both a team player and to work in an environment with a high degree of autonomy
  • Relevant qualifications (particularly an MLIS or similar) would be a distinct advantage, but is not essential
