Job Overview
A Enterprise Data Platforms (EDP) Data Modeler at Barclays will design, implement, and maintain conceptual, logical and physical data models that support critical business, regulatory and analytical capabilities across multiple platforms.
LocationLondon, Canary Wharf.
Responsibilities- Analyze and document business requirements and translate them into data models aligned with organisational goals.
- Develop and maintain data dictionaries and glossaries.
- Analyze and monitor data usage patterns to identify opportunities for optimisation and improvement in partnership with the Data Base Administrator.
- Define and document data architecture standards, principles and strategies.
- Produce logical designs—including processes, objects, data flows, inputs, stored data and outputs—for relevant subject areas.
- Identify common components and implement architectures.
- Own and resolve design‑related issues.
- Provide technical direction, lead collaborative multi‑year assignments, and guide team members.
- Train, guide and coach less experienced specialists.
- Advise key stakeholders, including functional leadership and senior management, on functional and cross‑functional impacts.
- Support risk management and governance initiatives.
- Demonstrate leadership behaviours: listen, energise, align, and develop others.
- Expertise in conceptual, logical and physical data modelling at enterprise scale.
- Solid experience with metadata management tools such as ER Studio, Erwin, or equivalent.
- In‑depth knowledge of Finance Data Classes and key data concepts across financial asset classes.
- Understanding of financial services data governance and regulatory frameworks (e.g., BCBS
239). - Experience working with cloud‑based data platforms and modern data architectures.
- Familiarity with data lineage, data quality and master data management practices.
- Demonstrated ability to analyse, develop innovative solutions, and influence stakeholders.
- Strong business acumen, strategic thinking and communication skills.
