SQL Data Engineer | Hybrid Working (3 days a week onsite)
Our client is looking for an experienced SQL Data Engineer to join their growing data team and play a key role in enhancing and modernising their enterprise data warehouse environment.
The successful candidate will bring strong expertise in SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS), ETL development, and data warehousing, with a proven ability to integrate data from multiple source systems into a scalable and reliable data platform. Working closely with Data Analysts, Developers, Subject Matter Experts, and business stakeholders, you will be involved throughout the full project lifecycle, from analysis and design through to testing and implementation.
Key Responsibilities- Design and develop ETL solutions using SSIS
- Map source data to enterprise data models and warehouse structures
- Develop and maintain complex T-SQL scripts, stored procedures, and database objects
- Optimise ETL processes, SQL queries, and database performance
- Conduct testing, validation, and troubleshooting of data integration solutions
- Ensure data quality, accuracy, and consistency across systems
- Produce and maintain technical documentation
- Collaborate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Extensive experience with Microsoft SQL Server and SSIS
- Strong T‑SQL development, query optimisation, and performance tuning skills
- Experience scripting within SSIS using Power Shell, C#, or Python
- Strong understanding of data warehousing concepts, architectures, and ETL best practices
- Knowledge of database design, indexing strategies, and performance optimisation
- Excellent analytical and problem‑solving skills
- Strong communication and stakeholder management abilities
- High attention to detail and commitment to data quality
- Experience modernising or uplifting existing data warehouse environments
- Experience with DB2
- Experience using Where Scape RED
- Exposure to cloud-based data platforms
- Understanding of data modelling, data architecture, and data governance principles
