We are seeking an experienced Project Control Officer (PCO) to support the successful delivery of a portfolio of complex transformation and technology projects within a secure public sector environment. This is an excellent opportunity for a highly organised and detail-oriented professional with strong project governance, reporting, planning, and stakeholder management skills. The successful candidate will work closely with Project Managers, Programme Managers, and key stakeholders to ensure effective project controls, accurate reporting, and adherence to governance processes.
Key Responsibilities- Support project and programme governance activities, including preparation of boards, steering committees, and review meetings.
- Maintain project plans, schedules, RAID logs, action trackers, and other project management artefacts.
- Produce and distribute project status reports, dashboards, and management information.
- Monitor project progress against milestones, budgets, and resource plans.
- Track risks, issues, dependencies, and assumptions, ensuring appropriate escalation where required.
- Support change control processes and configuration management activities.
- Coordinate project documentation and ensure compliance with governance frameworks and quality standards.
- Assist with resource planning, onboarding, and project administration activities.
- Facilitate communication between project teams, suppliers, and stakeholders.
- Support programme-level reporting and portfolio management activities.
- Proven experience working as a Project Control Officer, PMO Analyst, Project Coordinator, or similar role.
- Strong understanding of project governance, controls, and delivery methodologies.
- Experience maintaining RAID logs, project plans, reporting packs, and governance documentation.
- Excellent organisational and administrative skills with strong attention to detail.
- Advanced Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
- Experience producing management information and project performance reports.
- Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively across multiple projects and priorities.
- Experience supporting government, defence, or regulated-sector programmes.
- Knowledge of PRINCE2, Agile, MSP, or other recognised delivery methodologies.
- Experience using project management tools such as MS Project, Jira, Confluence, or similar.
- PMO or Project Management certification.
