Information Governance Manager

King's College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a full‑time Information Governance Manager to lead the delivery of the Trust's Information Governance (IG) work programme. The role will act as a professional manager, ensuring effective implementation of IG policies and procedures, providing operational support for IG processes, and advising stakeholders on information governance matters.

Responsibilities

Provide Information Governance advice and support to staff across the organisation.

Assist the Information Governance senior management team with operational and strategic priorities.

Offer insights on emerging cyber threats from an IG perspective.

Review and maintain key documentation, including privacy notices, Record of Processing Activities, and Information Asset Register.

Support and train Information Asset Owners to create and maintain data and information inventories in line with legislation.

Advise on and support completion of Data Protection Impact Assessments and maintain regulatory compliance records.

Champion a positive Information Governance culture, promoting shared responsibility.

Use the Data Security and Protection Toolkit to assure secure handling of personal data.

Contribute to the development of organisational policies, standards, and guidelines.

Identify stakeholder communication needs and translate engagement strategies into actionable activities.

Apply risk assessment and risk management principles to IG decision‑making.

Assess legal and best practice issues, promoting awareness of confidentiality and privacy laws.

Support the creation of performance measures to monitor IG priorities.

Assist in developing and monitoring IG policies and processes.

Track data security and protection trends, proactively assessing impact on business strategies.

Evaluate risks to data confidentiality, integrity, and availability, supporting reviews of security controls and post‑breach analysis.

Consult on policy development to align Trust policies with recognised Data Protection practices.

Consider risks associated with processing operations and operational context.

Identify and manage risks related to personal data breaches or cyber incidents, coordinating with third parties and ensuring statutory timelines.

Notify the Information Commissioners Office when required.

Contribute to formal reports on compliance and control effectiveness.

Adapt responses to changing circumstances and evolving business requirements.

Direct others to complete tasks within defined timescales.

Align actions with Trust objectives, maintaining strategic context.

Understand organisational hierarchy and culture to identify decision‑makers and influencers.

Engage stakeholders confidently and professionally, influencing effectively without formal authority.

Person Specification

Formal IG training qualification (e.g., Foundation/Practitioner Certificate in Data Protection/GDPR) or senior IG experience.
Experience planning and delivering programmes and projects.
Experience developing and delivering IG training programmes.
Experience presenting complex IG concepts to stakeholders at all levels.
Team working skills with evidence of collaboration.
Experience identifying, mitigating, and managing information risks.
Evidence of navigating organisational change as a learning opportunity.

£56,276 to £63,176 per annum, inc HCA's
