• Proven experience as a Neo4j DBA or in a similar role.
• Experience with Neo4j Enterprise and Aura.
• Good understanding of graph databases and the Cypher query language.
• Experience with cloud hosting, especially Azure.
• Hands‑on experience with Azure services including VMs, AKS, networking, storage, and monitoring.
• Ability to provision, upgrade, and manage VMs across environments.
• Experience handling VM resizing, storage allocation, and capacity planning.
• Experience installing, configuring, and maintaining Neo4j databases.
• Experience enabling HTTP/HTTPS access and configuring SSL certificates.
• Experience managing DEV, UAT, and PROD environments.
• Experience adding and maintaining database, backup, and log storage volumes.
• Experience monitoring performance and supporting VM and database upgrades.
• Experience deploying and managing Neo4j APIs and services.
• Experience collaborating with infra and Unix teams for changes and deployments.
• Experience troubleshooting environment and infrastructure issues.
• Knowledge of Key Vault and secrets management.
• Knowledge of Linux administration, scripting with Bash or Python, and automation tools.
• Familiarity with Dev Ops practices, CI/CD pipelines, and containerization with Docker and Kubernetes.
• Excellent problem‑solving and communication skills.
• Knowledge of pharma is desirable.
• Ability to interact with the business to gather requirements is desirable.
• Familiarity with agile ways of working is desirable.

• Install, configure, and maintain Neo4j databases in production and development environments.
• Manage backup, recovery, and disaster recovery strategies for Neo4j.
• Monitor database health, troubleshoot issues, and ensure high availability.
• Deploy and manage Neo4j clusters on Azure infrastructure including VMs, Kubernetes, networking, and storage.
• Support upgrades for VMs and databases.
• Manage DEV, UAT, and PROD environments.
• Add and maintain database, backup, and log storage volumes.
• Deploy and manage Neo4j APIs and services.

We are working with a British multinational pharmaceutical and biotechnology company on a 6 to 12 month on‑site contract assignment in Stevenage, Hertfordshire. The role is Inside IR35 with a contractor rate of £450 per day. We are looking for an experienced Neo4j DBA to support our production and development environments, with a strong focus on Azure infrastructure, database reliability, and operational support.
