Network Engineer

Salary: £40,000 - 70,000 per year

• Strong experience with Skyhigh Security Web Gateway (SWG) and enterprise proxy technologies.
• Proven network engineering and architecture experience within large enterprise environments.
• Strong understanding of routing and switching, network security, VPN technologies, firewall policy management, dynamic routing protocols, and Cisco networking.
• Ability to translate high-level architecture into detailed technical designs and implementation plans.
• Experience working within complex change-controlled environments.
• Strong troubleshooting and production support capabilities.
• Experience engaging with multiple stakeholders across technical and business functions.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Experience with in Financial Services, Banking, or Capital Markets is desirable.
• Understanding of stock exchange connectivity and low-latency trading networks is desirable.
• Exposure to network automation and software-driven infrastructure is desirable.
• Knowledge of regulatory, governance, and compliance requirements within financial institutions is desirable.
• Strategic planning and execution experience is desirable.

• Perform hands‑on implementation and configuration of network security and proxy solutions.
• Engineer and deploy new services into production environments.
• Collaborate with support teams, business units, and third‑party partners to design and deliver end‑to‑end solutions.
• Balance business, security, availability, and resiliency requirements across projects.
• Gather, analyse, and document technical application and service requirements.
• Maintain design standards and contribute to architectural governance.
• Participate actively in change management processes.
• Manage stakeholder requirements across project delivery and ad‑hoc consultancy engagements.
• Provide 3rd line escalation support for complex network and security incidents.
• Identify risks within the environment and drive mitigation strategies.
• Ensure operational documentation is maintained and transitioned successfully into support teams.
• Deliver implementation activities and provide Day 1 operational support following changes.

We are a recruitment partner for a 12‑month contract opportunity for a Network Engineer / Proxy SME supporting a Financial Services client in Chester, with a hybrid working arrangement of three days per week onsite. The role offers a rate of up to £750 depending on experience and sits within a complex enterprise environment where we value secure, resilient, and scalable network solutions.
