About the Role
We are looking for a technically minded Systems & Automation Assistant to support our business systems, software testing, office IT and automation projects. Working directly with the Commercial Director, this is a varied junior role suited to someone who enjoys technology, solving problems and understanding how systems work. You do not need extensive commercial experience, but you will need to be organised, curious and willing to investigate issues.
Full training will be provided.
- Support the day-to-day administration of business systems.
- Provide first-line support for general office IT and system queries.
- Help set up equipment, user accounts and system access.
- Liaise with external IT providers and system suppliers regarding technical issues, testing and developments.
- Log, investigate and follow up system issues.
- Test new system functionality, insurer integrations and software changes.
- Record test results clearly and re-test fixes.
- Support automation and process-improvement projects.
- Help identify repetitive manual tasks that could be simplified or automated.
- Work with spreadsheets, data extracts and system reports.
- Maintain simple system documentation and user guides.
- Assist with other systems, technology and automation projects as required.
- A genuine interest in systems, technology and automation.
- Good problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Confidence using Microsoft Office or Google Workspace.
- The ability to organise and prioritise work.
- A willingness to learn new systems and technologies.
- A proactive approach to investigating and resolving issues.
- Experience in systems support, software testing or IT administration.
- Basic knowledge of SQL, ideally MySQL.
- Basic Python knowledge, particularly for scripting, testing or automation.
- Experience with Excel formulas, Power Query or Power Automate.
- An understanding of APIs, databases or JSON.
- Experience with in insurance or financial services.
You will be:
- Technically curious and keen to understand how things work.
- Methodical and accurate.
- Comfortable asking questions and taking ownership of tasks.
- Able to explain issues clearly to both technical and non-technical colleagues.
- Keen to develop your skills across systems, testing and automation.
We are more interested in aptitude, attitude and willingness to learn than extensive previous experience.
