Job Title:

Dev Ops Support Engineer

Job Description This role focuses on supporting and modernising business‑critical applications as they migrate from traditional infrastructure into modern AWS cloud environments, while ensuring production stability and robust cyber security controls. Around 70% of the position centres on application support and production engineering, with the remaining 30% dedicated to cloud engineering and Dev Ops transformation, making it well suited to Infrastructure Engineers who have successfully evolved into Cloud/Dev Ops Engineers.

You will work as part of globally distributed teams, combining strong troubleshooting skills, automation expertise and a pragmatic approach to continuous improvement in a highly regulated environment.

Responsibilities
Support and modernise applications transitioning from traditional infrastructure to AWS cloud environments, ensuring stability and reliability throughout the migration.
Maintain, optimise and troubleshoot CI/CD pipelines and deployment processes to enable efficient and reliable software delivery.
Design, build and enhance automation solutions to reduce manual operational effort and improve consistency across environments.
Provide L2 and L3 production support, including incident triage, service restoration and escalation where necessary.
Participate in incident management activities, including root cause analysis and implementation of corrective and preventive actions.
Monitor platform reliability, availability and performance using tools such as Datadog and Big Panda, and proactively address issues.
Manage infrastructure configuration and automation using Infrastructure as Code principles, including tools such as Terraform and Ansible.
Implement and support infrastructure and operational CI/CD pipelines, following source control and deployment automation best practices.
Collaborate closely with Cyber Security teams to ensure adherence to security controls, governance requirements and secure operational practices.
Support strategic Cyber Security initiatives by aligning deployment and operational processes with security standards.
Administer and support Linux environments, including Red Hat Enterprise Linux, ensuring secure and stable operation.
Apply networking fundamentals to diagnose connectivity issues and support reliable communication between services.
Use Python and shell scripting to automate operational tasks, improve observability and streamline production support workflows.
Work effectively within globally distributed teams, engaging stakeholders and coordinating activities across time zones.
Balance day‑to‑day operational support with longer‑term platform modernisation and cloud transformation initiatives.
Contribute to continuous improvement by identifying opportunities to enhance reliability, performance, security and automation across the platform.
Support and maintain services and components running on AWS, including EC2, EKS and related cloud infrastructure.
Troubleshoot application and infrastructure issues, including database‑related problems using SQL, to restore service quickly.
Participate in technical assessments and discussions related to Dev Ops, cloud engineering and production support scenarios as part of the recruitment and onboarding process.

Essential Skills
At least 5 years’ experience in Dev Ops, Cloud Engineering, Production Engineering, Site Reliability Engineering or Infrastructure Engineering roles.
Proven track record supporting business‑critical production environments, including L2 and L3 incident and problem management.
Strong background in cloud technologies and automation, with hands‑on experience in AWS.
Practical experience with AWS services, including EC2 and EKS, and general AWS infrastructure management.
Solid Linux administration skills, including Red Hat Enterprise Linux, in production environments.
Good understanding of networking fundamentals to support troubleshooting and platform reliability.
Proficiency in Python scripting for automation and operational tooling.
