This is an excellent opportunity for a technically skilled IT professional to take ownership of complex technical issues, support critical infrastructure, and help shape the delivery of IT services while mentoring junior colleagues.
The Role:
As a Senior IT Engineer, you will be responsible for supporting and maintaining the College's IT infrastructure, including networks, servers, end-user devices and Microsoft 365 services. You will act as a senior escalation point for technical issues, lead the resolution of complex incidents, and provide guidance and mentoring to Engineers and Technicians. This is a highly hands-on role combining day-to-day operational support with advanced troubleshooting, system administration and project delivery.
Key Responsibilities:
- Act as the senior technical escalation point for complex IT incidents, ensuring issues are diagnosed, resolved and communicated effectively.
- Provide technical leadership, mentoring and guidance to Engineers and Technicians.
- Support and administer the College's network infrastructure, including switches, firewalls, Wi-Fi and connectivity services.
- Support Microsoft 365, Active Directory, Windows devices, Apple Macs, IP telephony systems and end-user technologies.
- Assist with software deployment and device management using tools such as SCCM and Jamf.
- Maintain accurate IT asset records and configuration information.
- Deliver technical projects and work collaboratively with colleagues, users and external suppliers to achieve successful outcomes.
- Provide excellent customer service and ensure support issues are managed through to resolution.
Who You Are:
- An experienced IT professional with strong hands-on expertise across infrastructure, networking and end-user support.
- Skilled in Windows administration, Active Directory, Microsoft 365, Apple Mac support, networking and IP telephony.
- Confident diagnosing and resolving complex technical issues in a fast-paced operational environment.
- A proactive problem solver who takes ownership of incidents and projects through to completion.
- An effective communicator who can build strong relationships with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- A team player with the ability to mentor others, share knowledge and contribute to continuous improvement.
- Experience with technologies such as VMware, SCCM, Jamf, Veeam, Omnissa Horizon or Linux would be advantageous.
