Data Centre Engineer – Linux, Networking, Colocation

Data Centre Engineer – HFT Colo Quant Capital is working with a high-performance trading firm looking to hire a Data Centre Engineer with strong Linux exposure to support critical infrastructure across London and EMEA sites.

This is a hands-on role combining physical infrastructure, Linux-based provisioning and scripting. You’ll be working in live environments where uptime matters, supporting deployments, troubleshooting issues and improving how infrastructure is built and maintained.

What you’ll be doing
• Supporting buildout and maintenance of data centre and colocation environments
• Deploying and configuring servers using Linux and PXE-based provisioning
• Rack, stack and cable server and network hardware
• Troubleshooting hardware, connectivity and OS-level issues
• Writing scripts (Bash/Python) to automate deployment and operational tasks
• Managing inventory, hardware logistics and site coordination
• Working with internal teams and external providers to deliver infrastructure projects
• Maintaining high standards across documentation, security and site operations
• Supporting remote sites across EMEA when required

What we’re looking for
• Experience in a data centre, infrastructure or colocation environment
• Strong Linux fundamentals and comfort working at the command line
• Scripting ability (Bash or Python) for automation and tooling
• Solid understanding of networking basics (switching, routing, L2/L3 troubleshooting)
• Experience with fibre and copper cabling, installation and fault finding
• Hands-on experience with enterprise hardware, including Cisco and Arista
• Organised, proactive and able to work independently in fast-moving environments
• Comfortable with occasional travel and out-of-hours work
