Senior Cloud Engineer
We are currently recruiting for a Senior Cloud Engineer to join a leading higher education organisation on an initial 6-month contract.
Rate: £465 per day Umbrella
Duration: 6 months
Start: ASAP
Hours: 36.5 hours per week
The successful candidate will have strong hands-on experience across enterprise storage, backup and infrastructure support. You will be responsible for administering and supporting enterprise storage and backup environments, troubleshooting complex technical issues and contributing to the ongoing operation and resilience of the infrastructure estate.
Key Responsibilities and ExperienceHands-on administration and support of Net App storage systems and Net App ONTAP/Clustered ONTAP.
Strong understanding of aggregates, volumes, LUNs, qtrees and Storage Virtual Machines (SVMs).
Strong experience with NFS and CIFS/SMB.
Experience with snapshots and Snap Mirror.
Supporting enterprise storage architecture and operations.
Capacity planning and performance tuning.
Supporting high availability environments, HA pairs and clustering.
Firmware and ONTAP upgrades.
Storage migrations and data life cycle management.
Strong understanding of enterprise backup strategies, retention policies and life cycle management.
Good understanding of RPO, RTO and disaster recovery principles.
Experience with enterprise backup platforms such as Cohesity and/or Rubrik.
Experience backing up and restoring enterprise databases.
Experience protecting VM-based infrastructure.
Understanding of image-level backups and application-consistent snapshots.
Experience working within broad 3rd-line support queues.
General infrastructure support including operating systems, entry-level VMware, NTFS permissions and systems administration.
Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills.
Ability to work independently within a complex enterprise environment.
Clear documentation and communication skills.
Experience with
Qumulo would be advantageous but is not essential.
The role would suit an experienced infrastructure professional with a strong background in enterprise storage, backup and 3rd-line support environments.
