Senior Platform Engineer - Boutique Hedge Fund

My client, a boutique hedge fund, is seeking a Senior Platform Engineer to join their London team.

In this role, you will design, build, and operate their Azure platform from the ground up - personally taking ownership of landing zones, identity, networking, governance, and hybrid connectivity. This is hands-on technical delivery, not management oversight. You'll take direct responsibility for building core infrastructure and shipping it, working alongside the CTO and internal infrastructure team to define practical platform standards and reusable patterns that engineering and data-science teams adopt.

This is a rare opportunity to architect and build a modern, scalable cloud platform in a financial environment - a position where you'll spend significant time doing the technical work yourself, not delegating it.

Strong, hands-on experience designing and running Azure infrastructure at scale, with deep expertise in identity and access management, hybrid networking, and infrastructure as code. You must have a strong security mindset, practical experience with cloud governance and compliance automation, and the ability to document and communicate standards clearly. Critically, you should be comfortable taking direct responsibility for technical delivery and be someone who prefers to build and ship work yourself rather than delegate it.

• Designing and operating Azure landing zones end-to-end (management groups, subscriptions, identity, networking, security baselines)
• Azure IAM and identity management
• Hybrid and cloud networking (Express Route, VNets, private endpoints, private DNS, segmentation)
• Building and maintaining infrastructure as code using Terraform and/or Bicep
• Scripting and automation in Python, Power Shell, and Bash for platform operations and CI/CD
• Implementing cloud governance (Azure Policy, tagging standards, environment guardrails, compliance automation)
