HANA Release Manager

£750 per day, inside IR35 | 12 months initial | Hybrid, London/ Watford

A FTSE 250 manufacturing business is partway through its move to SAP S/4

HANA. Several work streams are now building and testing in parallel, and the business needs a Release Manager to take ownership of how change moves from development into production without disrupting plants, warehouses or finance.

You will be the single point of control for every release on the programme. You will decide what is ready to go, sequence it sensibly and make sure that nothing reaches a live manufacturing environment until it has been properly tested and signed off.

You will own the release calendar and run the release governance cycle, including readiness reviews, go/no-go decisions and post-release reviews. You will manage transport management across the S/4

HANA landscape, keeping development, quality and production systems aligned and dealing quickly with transport conflicts and sequencing issues. You will coordinate with functional leads, developers, Basis, testing and the system integrator so that each release is complete, tested and documented before it moves. You will plan and run deployment and cutover activities for each release, including rollback plans and hypercare. You will operate and improve change control with the business and IT, making sure that every release has clear approval and an audit trail.

You will also report release status, risks and defects to programme leadership.

What you will bring

You will have managed releases on at least one SAP S/4

HANA implementation or conversion, and you will know the transport management system, ChaRM or Cloud ALM well. You will have worked closely with Basis teams and understand landscape and system copy planning. Experience in a manufacturing or supply chain environment, where downtime affects production lines, will carry real weight. ITIL certification is welcome but not essential. Above all, you will be comfortable saying no to a release that is not ready, even under delivery pressure.

The rate is £750 per day, inside IR35, via umbrella or PAYE. The initial term is 12 months with a strong likelihood of extension. The role is hybrid.
