The Claims & Operations Trainee Analyst will support both the SBS Claims and P&C Claims Operations teams. This role is ideal for someone looking to develop a career in insurance claims, operational processes, or regulatory compliance.

The role holder will support the SBS Claims team in the management and processing of claims. The role holder will assist with core claims processing activities—including payments, reserving support, and maintaining accurate claims data—while contributing to ad hoc claims and data ‑ related projects.

The position will also play an important role in day to day operational support with a focus on reporting, general coordination, compliance and regulatory matters and ad-hoc projects.

Responsibilities

Assist with the processing of claims payments and reserving updates in accordance with internal procedures.

Maintain accurate and up ‑ to ‑ date claims data across relevant systems and tools.

Support the claims team with day ‑ to ‑ day management of the claims portfolio, including reviewing documentation, updating files, and tracking outstanding items.

Help prepare claims summaries, reports, and dashboards as required.

Operational Support:

Assist in the production of various internal and external reports, liaising with other members of the SBS Claims and P&C Claims Operations teams as required.

Support the coordination of operational activities across the P&C Claims and Claims Operations teams.

Provide support on ad-hoc projects, including data quality exercises, process changes, and system enhancements.

Compliance & Regulatory Support:

Support documentation and evidence gathering for audits, regulatory reviews, or internal monitoring activities.

Help ensure that claims activities comply with applicable internal policies, regulatory requirements, and audit expectations.

Assist with completing control reports, ad-hoc reports, including issuing reminders or follow‑ups in a timely and professional manner.

Assist in monitoring control activities, including tracking control exceptions, updating logs, and ensuring follow‑up actions are recorded.

Contribute to maintaining up‑to‑date process documentation, guidance notes and compliance procedures, ensuring changes are clearly reflected

General Requirements:

Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and support the wider team with ad hoc tasks as required.

Participate in team meetings, taking notes, following up on actions, and providing updates on assigned tasks.

Collaborate with colleagues across teams, ensuring smooth communication and contributing to a supportive working environment.

Follow internal procedures, policies and controls, maintaining professionalism and confidentiality at all times.

Qualifications

Required experience & competencies

Good verbal and written communication skills - able to build good working relationships and communicate confidently with colleagues across different teams, locations, and time zones;

Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and projects, keeping track of deadlines and day-to-day activities;

Strong numeracy & analytical mindset

Microsoft Office Skills required, Excel, Word & PowerPoint intermediate to advanced level

  • Good attention to detail, ensuring high quality of delivery;
  • Self-motivated, proactive and inquisitive with good drive and enthusiasm;
  • Report writing/presenting skills and ability to assemble concise PowerPoint presentations are desirable
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team – comfortable asking questions, collaborating with others, and contributing to a supportive team environment.
