Salary: Dependent on experience and underwriting licence level

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Liability & Construction Underwriter to join our growing team at Folgate Underwriting Agency, based in our London City office.

About the RoleYou will play a key part in underwriting new and renewal business within our Liability & Construction portfolio. Your responsibilities will include:
- Underwriting insurance risks in line with the Business Plan and your personal underwriting licence.
- Building and maintaining strong relationships with brokers, customers, and internal stakeholders.
- Using your expertise to help shape underwriting strategy, knowledge sharing, and best practice.
- Promoting the department and wider company to maximise brand presence and broker engagement.
- Ensuring full compliance with legal, regulatory, and internal underwriting standards.
- Staying up to date with market trends and demonstrating strong market cycle awareness.
We are looking for a motivated and commercially minded Liability Trading Underwriter with the drive to achieve targets and grow within an established team.
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- A minimum of 2 years’ underwriting experience with a focus on Construction & Liability.
- Strong knowledge of legal and regulatory requirements.
- Excellent organisational, prioritisation, and interpersonal skills.
- Confident negotiation and presentation abilities.
- Solid technical knowledge of the UK Liability & Construction market.
- A proactive, self‑motivated approach with the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook is essential.
- A genuine desire to learn, develop, and progress your underwriting career.

- Salary negotiable depending on experience and underwriting license
- 25 days holiday plus bank holidays (rising to 27 days after 5 years).
