Job Description & How to Apply Below

We are looking for a Portfolio Steering and Cat Risk Analyst for our Marine team based in the London or New York City office.

The specific nature of Marine risks, including static and non-static exposures, requires management within a consistent global framework. Rapidly evolving exposures, risk mitigation approaches, tools, processes, and research demand continuous adaptation and up-to-date expertise. Detailed business monitoring and portfolio steering activities require sustained involvement and analytical focus. This role is vital to understanding exposure hotspots, market changes that affect a portfolio, and related trends/changes within the competitor landscape.

Your

Team

Our team combines portfolio steering expertise with advanced catastrophe risk analytics to drive informed decision-making across our Marine line of business. We are responsible for strategic portfolio monitoring, natural catastrophe and terrorism portfolio modelling, accumulation management, data quality oversight, and reinsurance-related analytics. Using cutting‑edge tools and industry‑leading CAT modelling platforms, we collaborate closely with underwriters, actuaries, and reinsurance teams to ensure our Marine portfolio remains resilient, profitable, and well‑positioned for growth.

The

Impact You Will Have

In this role, you will play a pivotal part in protecting our global Marine portfolio from natural catastrophe risk. You will identify and quantify CAT accumulation exposures - both modelled and non-modelled - across all relevant Sub Lines, directly enabling smarter risk mitigation and stronger underwriting controls. Applying your catastrophe modelling expertise, you will drive team objectives forward and guide colleagues in best practice.

You will collaborate closely with Product Leaders, the CUO Technical Office, and Regional Marine Underwriting teams to shape and enhance our CAT underwriting strategy. Through maintaining and developing underwriting tools - including risk visualisation, capacity steering, and individual risk assessment capabilities - you will ensure our teams can make confident, data‑driven decisions within clear authority frameworks. Partnering with CAT Management and CFO Risk Management, you will ensure consistency with our overall accumulation strategy, accurate reporting of Marine values, and the appropriate reflection of risks in pricing and model development.

Some

of your specific responsibilities could include
  • Develop CAT Underwriting tools and reports specific for our Marine line of business both to enable portfolio steering and to support the underwriting process.
  • Run Catastrophe loss modelling reports and prepare regular and ad‑hoc data extracts and reports including portfolio analyses, CAT limit monitoring, supporting global business steering and providing input to ensure adequate Reinsurance protection.
  • Cooperate closely with the Product Leaders, Technical Office and Regional Underwriting specialists. Support the definition of the risk appetite and capacity steering.
  • Serve as business owner for IT and data initiatives, leading end‑to‑end scoping, prioritisation, and delivery of reporting and transformation projects, ensuring solutions such as Power BI dashboards directly support Marine Underwriting and portfolio steering strategy while advancing the data platform landscape.
  • Provide on the spot consultancy and translate or explain CAT Modeling results and reports to Marine underwriters.
  • Evaluate and make recommendations to ensure Marine specific requirements and exposures are most appropriately reflected and cater for the special nature of Marine.
  • Provide training and education of the Marine Underwriting community on CAT-related topics.
  • Collaborate with Underwriting and other relevant…
