Insurance Underwriter

We are working with a growing specialist insurance business that is looking to strengthen its underwriting team in London.

This is an opportunity for an underwriter to take responsibility for managing and developing a portfolio of commercial business. The role will involve reviewing new and existing risks, agreeing appropriate terms and working closely with brokers and internal stakeholders to support profitable growth.

• Assess and underwrite new and renewal business
• Review submissions and evaluate relevant risk information
• Prepare quotations and agree pricing, terms and conditions
• Manage referrals and more complex or non-standard cases
• Develop and maintain relationships with brokers and distribution partners
• Monitor portfolio performance and identify emerging trends
• Support the ongoing development of underwriting guidelines
• Contribute to product reviews and wider underwriting initiatives
• Work closely with claims, actuarial, operations and business development teams

• Approximately 2-5 years of commercial underwriting experience
• Experience with in casualty, liability, financial lines, cyber, technology, property or specialist commercial insurance
• Strong technical underwriting and commercial decision-making skills
• Experience managing new business, renewals and referrals
• Confident communicating with brokers and internal stakeholders
• Able to manage priorities and make decisions independently
• Strong attention to detail and a clear understanding of portfolio performance

Experience gained within an insurer, MGA, Lloyd's syndicate or specialist underwriting business would be beneficial.
