Employment Type: Permanent

Location: UK

Reporting To: Michael Georgiou

Description

As a Portfolio Risk Actuary at CFC, you’ll help shape how we understand and manage catastrophe and systemic risk across a fast-growing global portfolio. Working with our Portoflio Management, Actuarial and Catastrophe Modelling team, you’ll develop the models and insight that inform underwriting strategy, portfolio growth and risk appetite.

This is a highly visible role at the centre of CFC, giving you the opportunity to influence commercial decisions, strengthen our models and make an immediate impact.

About the role

You’ll take day-to-day ownership of CFC’s cyber catastrophe modelling and exposure management approach, developing and calibrating our proprietary model to reflect emerging threats, claims trends and changing risk drivers. Working closely with underwriting, cyber security, claims and performance management, you’ll turn complex analysis into clear commercial insight that supports underwriting strategy, portfolio growth, business planning and risk appetite.

You’ll also analyse performance and exposure across growth areas of business, helping CFC and its partners better understand and manage risk. Alongside this, you’ll share your expertise through practical guidance and training and contribute to wider strategic projects as the team and portfolio continue to grow.

About you

You’ll bring demonstrable actuarial experience within insurance or reinsurance, ideally gained in the London Market or a broader general insurance environment, and experience in cyber, specialty or commercial lines insurance .

You understand core actuarial techniques and insurance performance metrics and have had some exposure to capital or catastrophe modelling. You’ll also be progressing towards a recognised actuarial qualification and have a strong academic background in a numerate discipline.

Comfortable working with complex data, you can use tools such as SQL, Python or R and turn technical analysis into clear, commercially useful insight.

You’ll be an engaging communicator who can build strong relationships across technical and non-technical teams, with the judgement, curiosity and initiative to succeed in a fast-moving environment.
