I'm currently working on an exciting opportunity for an experienced Liability Underwriter to join a global Corporate & Specialty insurer and become a key part of its Liability Global Risk team.

This is a particularly interesting opportunity for someone who has experience underwriting large, complex and international Liability risks and is looking for a role where they can genuinely influence underwriting strategy and portfolio growth.

• Significant underwriting authority - this role holds the highest authority in the market, giving you the opportunity to make decisions on some of the most complex risks.
• Large & complex risks - exposure to major multinational clients across industries including automotive, pharmaceuticals, medical devices, agrochemicals and other complex industrial sectors.
• Global remit - the International region covers markets outside Continental Europe, including London, the Americas, South Africa and APAC.
• Strategic influence - play an active role in portfolio strategy, risk selection, proposition development and the continued growth of the Global Risk Liability book.
• International network - build relationships with brokers, clients and colleagues across a truly global platform, with opportunities for international travel.
• Leadership without necessarily being a traditional people-management role - provide technical guidance, development and referral support to more junior members of the team while establishing yourself as a senior market presence.

You'll be responsible for underwriting and developing a profitable portfolio of Global Risk Liability business, working with brokers and clients on complex multinational accounts.

• Underwrite significant and complex Liability risks within substantial authority
• Develop and grow a high-quality international portfolio
• Build trusted relationships with major brokers and multinational clients
• Influence portfolio steering, risk selection and underwriting strategy
• Identify new business and cross-selling opportunities
• Work closely with Claims, Risk Consulting, Actuarial, Distribution, Finance and international offices
• Represent the Liability proposition at market events and industry forums
• Support and develop more junior underwriters
• Contribute to strategic projects and new market propositions

I'm particularly interested in speaking with experienced Liability Underwriters who have handled large and complex risks and are comfortable making significant underwriting decisions.

• Strong Liability underwriting experience, preferably within an international or industrial environment
• Experience handling large, complex or multinational risks
• Strong technical underwriting and pricing capability
• A good understanding of portfolio performance and risk selection
• Excellent broker and client relationship skills
• Confidence operating with significant underwriting authority
• Experience working across international markets and/or multinational programmes
• The ability to operate at a strategic level while remaining close to the detail of individual risks
