Ready to take the next step from Account Handling into Marine Insurance Broking?

Vanguard Broking is a marine insurance brokerage based in London, placing cover across all lines of Marine Insurance. We're looking for an Account Handler to join us who is ready to step into a hybrid broking role which they can make their own.

This is a hybrid position for someone currently account handling who wants a genuine route into broking. You'll manage your own portfolio day-to-day while taking on increasing exposure to placement, negotiation and client-facing broking work — with the aim of growing into a full broking role. War risk and hull & machinery experience is the priority, but candidates with broader marine experience across other classes are equally welcome.

• Managing a portfolio of marine insurance clients: renewals, mid-term adjustments and day-to-day queries
• Preparing quotations, policy documentation and market submissions
• Increasing involvement in placing and negotiating cover with underwriters, starting with renewals and simpler risks and building up to leading placements
• Supporting claims handling and liaising with clients and insurers through to resolution
• Attending client and market meetings alongside senior brokers as part of your development
• Maintaining accurate records and ensuring compliance with FCA and Lloyd's market requirements

• Current experience as an account handler in marine insurance, with a clear ambition to move into broking
• War risk and hull & machinery experience essential.
• Confident communicator, comfortable building relationships with clients and underwriters
• Organised, detail-focused and able to manage a busy portfolio under deadline pressure
• A genuine appetite to learn the placement and negotiation side of the business

• A structured path from account handling into broking, with mentoring from senior brokers
