Technical Manager – Renewable Energy / Energy Storage Systems (ESS)

Salary: £55,000 – £70,000 + Bonus + Car / Car Allowance + Benefits
We are seeking an experienced Technical Manager to join an established renewable energy business as it expands into the UK market with its Energy Storage Systems (ESS) offerings. This is a client-facing role combining technical leadership, deployment support, and documentation ownership, working closely with installers, internal teams, and end users.
The RoleAs Technical Manager, you will act as the technical bridge between clients, installers, and internal product teams. You will support the full deployment lifecycle—from pre-installation guidance through commissioning—while ensuring technical documentation and user-facing materials are accurate, clear, and up to date.
Key Responsibilities- Act as the primary technical point of contact for clients and external partners
- Work closely with installers and deployment teams to support system installations and commissioning
- Provide technical guidance on:
- User menus
- Product menus
- Support and oversee ESS deployment and installation activities, troubleshooting issues as required
- Develop, review, and maintain technical documentation, including:
- Technical specifications
- Ensure installations align with product requirements, safety standards, and best practices
- Feed installer and client feedback into product and documentation improvements
- Support internal sales and commercial teams with technical input where required
- Proven experience in a Technical Manager, Technical Lead, or similar role
- Strong background in the renewable energy industry, ideally Energy Storage Systems (ESS)
- Hands‑on deployment and installation experience with renewable or storage technologies
- Strong understanding of system configuration, commissioning, and installer workflows
- Experience working directly with installers and clients
- Ability to translate complex technical information into clear, user-friendly documentation
- Strong problem‑solving and communication skills
- Experience with residential or commercial BESS installations
- Familiarity with inverter, battery, or EMS platforms
- Knowledge of UK or EU renewable installation standards and compliance
