The Royal Greenwich Interpreting Service (RGIS) provides face‑to‑face language interpreters, British sign language (BSL) interpreters, and the translation of documents as required to enable residents to access local health services and services provided by the Council. RGIS is a confidential service that ensures non‑English speaking clients and patients receive equal access to council and local health services. RGIS aims to provide interpreting and translation in most languages, covering up to 137 languages spoken in the borough.
CandidateThe successful candidate will have a substantial amount of experience in public service interpreting and translation, with a recognised qualification in Interpreting and Translation to at least Community Interpreting level
3. Experience working with health or social care professionals is desirable, and expertise in medical and legal interpreting is an advantage.
The sessional role is designed around face‑to‑face engagement, with responsibilities carried out through direct, in‑person interaction with professionals and non‑English speaking clients. This is an open advertisement and interviews will be held at regular times throughout the year.

SalarySalary is advertised for a standard working week of 35 hours unless otherwise stated. A salary calculator is available to help you calculate a pro‑rate salary.
