Location: Greater London

A global law firm is seeking an In-house Data Privacy Lawyer to join its Office of General Counsel. This role is pivotal in developing, implementing and maintaining the organisation's privacy program, ensuring compliance with international data protection laws (including EU/UK GDPR, US and other jurisdictions).

Key Responsibilities
  • Support the design and execution of privacy and data protection policies and procedures.
  • Conduct risk assessments, privacy impact assessments and compliance audits.
  • Manage privacy training programs for staff and stakeholders.
  • Oversee responses to data subject requests, regulatory inquiries and privacy-related complaints.
  • Review and negotiate privacy clauses in client and vendor contracts.
  • Act as liaison with data protection authorities and serve as statutory privacy officer where required.
  • Collaborate with internal teams on privacy by design, data governance and incident response.
  • Stay updated on global privacy regulations and advise on compliance strategies.
Required Skills & Experience
  • Strong knowledge of EU/UK GDPR and familiarity with global privacy laws (US, Middle East, Asia).
  • Experience drafting and negotiating data processing agreements and handling privacy-related issues in a global business context.
  • Proven ability to manage data breaches, regulatory notifications and privacy audits.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to simplify complex legal concepts for non-legal audiences.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work collaboratively across diverse teams.
Qualifications
  • Qualified Solicitor.
  • Minimum 6 years of relevant experience in privacy compliance, ideally within a law firm.
  • Privacy certifications (e.g., CIPP, CIPT) preferred.
