Our client, an elite US law firm, is seeking a talented and commercially minded 1-4
PQE Data Privacy Associate to join its London office. This is an exciting opportunity to become part of a top-tier, internationally recognised privacy practice advising multinational clients on complex, high-value and cross-border data protection matters.
The role offers exposure to cutting-edge regulatory issues, including the privacy implications of emerging technologies, global investigations and complex transactional mandates. You will collaborate with leading partners across technology, corporate, disputes and regulatory teams on high-profile, cross-border matters.
OverviewAs a Data Privacy Associate, you will advise on a wide range of UK, EU and global data protection matters, spanning compliance programmes, incident response, regulatory engagement and transaction support. Working within a collaborative international team, you will play a hands-on role in delivering strategic advice to clients across diverse industries.
Responsibilities- Advising on UK and EU GDPR compliance and broader global privacy regimes, including US frameworks
- Supporting on data protection aspects of M&A, private equity transactions and complex commercial contracts
- Drafting and negotiating data processing agreements, data sharing agreements and international transfer documentation
- Advising on data breaches, incident response and regulatory investigations
- Handling data subject rights issues and complex DSARs
- Conducting DPIAs and advising on privacy by design, AI governance and emerging technologies
- Providing strategic, commercially focused advice tailored to fast-moving global businesses
- Contributing to client development initiatives and knowledge sharing within the practice
- 1-4 PQE England & Wales qualified solicitor with a strong focus on data privacy
- Experience gained at a leading UK or international law firm
- Deep knowledge of UK and EU GDPR, with exposure to cross-border and international privacy issues
- Strong drafting and negotiation skills, particularly in relation to commercial and transactional documentation
- Excellent analytical ability and sound commercial judgment
- The ability to translate complex regulatory requirements into practical, business-oriented advice
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
