** The Wellcome Trust is a global charitable foundation. We improve health for everyone by funding science, leading policy and advocacy campaigns, and building partnerships.
We committed to spend £16bn in the ten years to 2032, funding new discoveries in life, health, and wellbeing, and taking on three global health challenges: mental health, infectious disease and climate and health.
These challenges need the bold science we support, but they won’t be solved by science alone.
We are looking for a Procurement Officer to join our team.
The Procurement team is transforming how Wellcome buys goods and services, making procurement simpler, faster and more strategic. By providing expert guidance and commercial insight, the team helps colleagues achieve the best outcomes while advancing Wellcome’s mission to improve health.
** Where in Wellcome will I be working?
** As a Procurement Officer, you will provide a professional, value-driven procurement service to colleagues across Wellcome, helping them source goods and services effectively and responsibly. You will contribute to procurement projects and work with teams across the organisation to deliver solutions that advance Wellcome’s strategic objectives and mission.
** What will I be doing?
** As a Procurement Officer, you will:
* Partner with colleagues across Wellcome to understand procurement needs, provide expert advice and help shape effective sourcing strategies that deliver value and manage risk.
* Manage end-to-end procurement activities, from market engagement and supplier selection through to contracting and contract management, ensuring fair, transparent and compliant processes.
* Work alongside Category Managers across a range of procurement categories, contributing to category planning, market analysis and continuous improvement initiatives.
* Build and maintain productive relationships with suppliers and internal stakeholders to ensure contracts are delivered effectively and organisational needs are met.
* Use procurement systems and tools, including Oracle ERP, to support purchasing activities, maintain accurate records and enable efficient procurement processes.
* Contribute to Procurement team projects and priorities while promoting inclusive ways of working and ensuring activities align with Wellcome’s policies, governance requirements and mission.
** Is this job for me?
** This role could be a great fit if you have experience delivering end-to-end procurement activities, from sourcing and contracting through to supplier management, and enjoy building strong relationships with a wide range of stakeholders. You'll be a confident communicator and problem-solver who can balance multiple priorities, work to tight deadlines and adapt to changing requirements, while contributing to a collaborative and inclusive team environment.
Experience with Oracle P2P processes and an interest in working towards a CIPS qualification would be advantageous.
To apply for this role please submit an updated CV and answer 2 application questions to demonstrate that you meet the minimum requirements for the role.
** Minimum Criteria:
*** Demonstrated experience managing end-to-end procurement activities, including sourcing, tendering, contracting and supplier management, while balancing value for money with effective risk management.
* Experience building productive relationships with a range of internal and external stakeholders and collaborating across teams to deliver shared objectives.
* Experience negotiating and managing contracts, with the ability to support commercial and operational outcomes.
* Proven ability to manage competing priorities, solve problems and adapt to changing requirements in a fast-paced environment.
* Experience working in a private sector procurement function and delivering high-quality procurement activities or projects to agreed deadlines.
