We are seeking an experienced and motivated Operations Manager (& Senior Operators) to oversee our clients busy commercial Operations function. This role is responsible for the end-to-end management of the supply chain process, ensuring the efficient and cost-effective movement of product from procurement through to final customer shipping delivery.
The successful candidate will drive operational excellence, manage key stakeholder relationships, ensure compliance with industry regulations, and lead a high-performing operations team in a fast-paced trading and logistics environment.
Key Responsibilities
Operational Leadership
- Manage and oversee daily operations activity across the business.
- Ensure efficient execution of the end-to-end supply chain process from procurement through to customer delivery.
- Develop and implement operational strategies that support business objectives.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency, service quality, and profitability.
- Introduce and support the implementation of new technologies and operational methodologies.
Supply Chain, Shipping & Logistics Management
- Monitor and optimise logistics activities to ensure timely and cost-effective product delivery.
- Coordinate with suppliers, customers, terminals, inspection companies, incoterms, brokers, and transport providers.
- Ensure operational activities align with contractual obligations and customer requirements.
- Maintain high standards of service delivery and operational performance.
Stakeholder Management
- Build and maintain effective relationships with key external stakeholders, including:
- Suppliers
- Barge and ship owners
- Storage terminals
- Brokers
Compliance & Risk Management
- Ensure all operations comply with relevant legislation, industry regulations, and company policies.
- Develop and maintain operational procedures and compliance frameworks.
- Identify operational risks and implement mitigation strategies to protect business interests.
- Promote best practice across all operational activities.
Performance Management
- Establish and monitor key operational performance metrics.
- Analyse operational data to identify trends, risks, and opportunities for improvement.
- Produce management reports and operational performance updates.
- Drive accountability and continuous improvement across the team.
Team Leadership
- Lead, coach, and develop the Operations team.
- Provide guidance, support, and training to ensure high levels of performance and engagement.
- Foster a collaborative and results-driven working environment.
- Support succession planning and talent development within the team.
Financial Management
- Develop and manage operational budgets.
- Monitor operational expenditure and identify cost-saving opportunities.
- Support financial planning and reporting processes.
Experience & Qualifications
Essential
- Bachelor's degree or higher in Logistics, Supply Chain, Business, or a related discipline.
- 5–10 years' experience within operations, logistics, supply chain, or commodity trading environments.
- Proven experience managing operational teams.
- Strong knowledge of international trade terms (Incoterms), supply chain processes, and logistics operations.
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office applications and ERP systems.
- Fluent English, both written and verbal. (NB: No sponsorship is provided)
- Experience with in the energy, fuel, commodities, or bulk liquids sectors (desirable)
