Job Description:
We are looking for a motivated candidate to join the Shipping Operations team for a six-month internship. This internship is designed for students in the final stage of their studies or recent graduates looking to kick‑start their career in the commodity trading industry. It offers a unique opportunity to gain hands‑on experience within the Shipping function of a global energy trading company.
Working alongside experienced shipping professionals, you will develop an understanding of how crude oil and petroleum products are transported around the world and how commercial shipping supports the trading business. Throughout the internship, you will gain exposure to Voyage Operations, Chartering, Claims, Vetting, Controls and Vessel Performance while contributing to day‑to‑day activities and projects in a dynamic, international environment.
- Develop a solid understanding of commercial tanker operations and the end-to-end voyage lifecycle.
- Support the management of voyage-related documentation, payments and operational processes.
- Learn how freight, demurrage and other voyage-related claims are calculated and managed.
- Gain exposure to vessel vetting and clearance processes to understand operational and safety requirements.
- Assist in monitoring the performance of time-chartered vessels and analysing voyage efficiency.
- Support the Shipping team with operational tasks, data analysis and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Contribute to projects across the Shipping and broader Commercial Support teams.
- Currently completing or recently graduated with a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Maritime Studies, Shipping, Logistics, Supply Chain or a related field.
- A genuine interest in commodity trading, commercial shipping and global energy markets.
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills with excellent attention to detail.
- Strong communication and business writing skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint; knowledge of PowerBI is an advantage.
- Curiosity, a proactive mindset and the ability to learn quickly in a dynamic environment.
- Availability to undertake a full‑time (5 days per week), six‑month internship.
- Fluent in English.
