Overview

As a Drainage Service Maintenance Technician at Tesco across Woodford Green areas, you’ll play a vital role in ensuring our stores remain a safe, functional, and welcoming environment for customers and colleagues alike. You’ll be part of a skilled team responsible for carrying out planned and reactive maintenance across a range of systems and equipment, helping to keep our operations running smoothly.

Your work will directly impact the shopping experience of thousands of customers every day. You’ll use your technical expertise to identify and resolve issues efficiently, always prioritising safety, compliance, and quality.

This is a hands-on role that requires a proactive mindset, strong problem-solving skills, and a commitment to delivering high standards. Responsibilities
  • Ensuring all Tesco sites are a safe and functioning environment for customers and colleagues.
  • Following the planned work schedule to achieve first time fix, maximising productivity and effectiveness.
  • Delivering high quality work standards across the estate, with year-on-year improvement.
  • Communicating and building effective relationships with stakeholders.
  • Working closely with team members, sharing best practice and knowledge.
  • Using problem-solving skills and innovation to identify and develop solutions for key and common issues.
  • Owning tasks at a local level through to completion/resolution, informing key stakeholders through the process where required.
  • Owning development through progression of the maintenance pathway.
  • Driving your own monthly 1-2-1 schedule with your line manager.
  • Using mobile devices (phone and tablet) to drive best practice in work completion and updates.
  • Using business systems to drive best practice in WON reporting to support asset lifecycle management.
  • Representing the Tesco brand by following business ways of working, demonstrating values-led behaviours, a positive attitude, and pride in wearing the Tesco uniform.
  • Attending local and national meetings, providing input and feedback.
  • Supporting KPI delivery through practical application of skill sets and effective use of business systems to achieve your KPIs.
  • Supporting a diverse and inclusive culture.
Requirements
  • Full driving license
  • Health & Safety awareness
  • Communication & stakeholder management
  • Office 365 knowledge
  • Completed all technical training or upskilling modules relevant to skillset and/or relevant experience
  • Install/Repair underground storm/foul pipework, sanitary ware, water supply systems and extending pipework to connect fixtures and plumbing to these systems
  • Ideally, completion of a Recognised Apprenticeship, Improver Programme or Trade Proficiency Test
  • Previous experience of drainage and plumbing, including mechanical repairs, lining, patching, dig-downs, unblocks and CCTV surveys
  • WJA and Confined Spaces qualifications are desirable
  • Digitally confident; able to operate mobile devices to view workload, emails, Teams, and use business systems
