Domestic Cleaner – Mount Vernon Hospital

Position:
Part‑time Domestic Assistant (Evening shift, 16:00–20:00, 20 h per week). Shift pattern requires five shifts per week; weekends may be included.
To provide a domestic cleaning service that removes dust, dirt, debris and liquid to prevent the spread of infection, preserve building life, fabric and furnishings while maintaining a clinically acceptable environment across wards, departments and public areas.
Main Duties- Perform domestic cleaning duties throughout the hospital, including floors, surfaces, toilets and common areas.
- Use cleaning chemicals and equipment (vacuum cleaners, polishers, mops, floor‑cleaning machines).
- Work safely and use personal protective equipment; stand for long periods; push trolleys, pull out beds, move light furniture.
- Follow infection‑control procedures and maintain hygiene standards.
- Basic education.
- Knowledge or training in infection control.
- Minimum 12 months experience in cleaning and/or food handling procedures.
- Basic knowledge of health and safety.
- Effective verbal and written communication with patients, staff and visitors.
- Understanding of safety requirements and ability to work safely at all times.
- Ability to use cleaning chemicals and equipment (vacuum, polishers, mops, etc.).
- Physically fit; can push trolleys, pull out beds and move light furniture.
- Able to stand for long periods of time.
- Knowledge and experience of using electrical floor‑cleaning equipment.
£30,142 a year (pro rata, inclusive of HCAA).
