Maintenance Manager – Tavistock Hotel
Imperial London Hotel Group, a family‑run company with a 185‑year legacy, is dedicated to redefining hospitality across its 8 hotels and 9 restaurants in Bloomsbury, London. We are seeking a talented Maintenance Manager to support our General Manager, lead day‑to‑day maintenance operations, uphold brand standards, and nurture a high‑performing team at the Tavistock Hotel.
The Tavistock Hotel, located opposite Tavistock Square Gardens, offers 395 rooms with an on‑site Indian restaurant, bar, and lounge bar.
What You’ll Be Doing- Assign daily workload, plan and oversee scheduled maintenance activities and preventive maintenance for a team of shift engineers, painters/decorators, and contractors.
- Inspect all hotel equipment, services, buildings and plant to ensure the highest standards in line with health and safety legislation and company guidelines.
- Coordinate with the Hotel Manager and other Heads of Department to understand daily workloads and scheduled maintenance.
- Maintain current knowledge of all building maintenance systems, including plant rooms, electrical equipment, and fire safety systems, and supervise the implementation of maintenance standards and procedures.
- Ensure all team members follow security and health and safety procedures and use equipment safely.
- Recruit, train, and develop the team through daily coaching, performance reviews, and management of poor performance.
- Previous experience in a similar maintenance role, ideally within hotels, large retail outlets, or building management services.
- Ability to perform basic electrical, plumbing, decoration, and carpentry tasks; NVQ Level 2/3 electrical, plumbing, or heating qualifications are advantageous.
- Up‑to‑date knowledge of health and safety laws and regulations, promoting a safe working environment.
- Strong workload management skills and the ability to work under pressure and resolve issues quickly.
- Self‑motivated, proud of work, prioritising safety for self and others.
- Excellent communication skills, able to engage with individuals at all levels internally and externally.
- Flexible leadership style that motivates the team to achieve great results and reach their potential.
