Senior Mechanic
Location:
Westminster Wheels Shop, London
Salary: £29,000 to £32,000, depending on experience
Vacancy Type:
Fixed Term, Full Time, 37.5 hours per week

We are looking for a passionate mechanic to repair and upcycle bikes, and train new staff.
Key Responsibilities & Tasks- Support senior staff to select bikes for refurbishment and maximise the use of refurbished parts.
- Check and repair received bikes for resale and donation, ensuring they fully meet safety requirements.
- Diagnose, repair and quality check bike maintenance requests to quality standards and deadlines set by the line manager.
- Make day‑to‑day practical decisions on how to refurbish and repair bicycles, support customers and share shop cleaning duties.
- Document all works and repairs in line with procedures.
- Participate in the clean, safe and efficient running of the workshop and retail shop.
- Liaise with customers – on accepting their servicing, ensuring they fully understand the offer; during service keep them updated on works, costs and timescales; on collection inform them of completed works and any further considerations.
- Take payments and ensure all transactions are correctly recorded.
- Follow stock‑control systems and participate in regular stocktaking.
- Take responsibility for fulfilling fleet management contracts.
- Deliver off‑site bike repair services, including Dr Bike services and planned/reactive fleet maintenance services.
- Manage online sales and assist in loading items and maintaining on‑line product presence.
- Open and close the store on request, ensuring security alarm and all doors secured.
- Help clean the workshop, showroom, toilets, and kitchen as part of the cleaning rota.
- Industry‑recognized qualification in bicycle maintenance at Level 2.
- Practical experience working in a busy bike shop.
- Good interpersonal skills to meet the needs of customers and trainees.
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to understand and follow bicycle maintenance tasks to agreed standards.
- Ability to succeed in a target‑driven team to achieve contract outputs.
- Ability to manage your own outputs whilst contributing to the success of the wider team and project aims.
