Purpose of the Role

The Foot Mobile Maintenance Engineer is responsible for undertaking both Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance activities across the contract.

The purpose of the role is to support the Contract Supervisor and Management Team by ensuring the client's mechanical and electrical assets are maintained in a safe, efficient and fully operational condition.

The postholder will be highly organised, capable of working to agreed timescales, responding effectively to emergency situations, and working both independently and as part of a wider engineering team.

Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities Maintenance Responsibilities
  • Maintain and keep in good repair the client's mechanical and electrical systems and all associated plant and equipment.
  • Carry out Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) in accordance with maintenance schedules.
  • Undertake reactive maintenance, fault finding and repairs to mechanical and electrical systems.
  • Respond to Building Management System (BMS) alarms and use the system for first‑line diagnostics.
  • Maintain comfortable environmental conditions through the effective operation of HVAC systems.
  • Carry out maintenance, repairs and minor installation works as directed by the Contract Supervisor and Management.
Compliance and Documentation
  • Complete SimPRO instruction sets accurately, ensuring each task is signed off and supported by photographic evidence where required.
  • Maintain accurate site logbooks for electrical, mechanical and water systems.
  • Ensure Health & Safety, compliance and maintenance documentation is complete and up to date.
  • Complete and maintain:
    • Test Reports
    • Service Reports
    • Compliance documentation
    • Quality Assurance records
  • Report any issues preventing completion of statutory planned maintenance to the Contract Supervisor or Management.
Health & Safety
  • Maintain a safe and healthy working environment.
  • Identify and report hazards or unsafe conditions immediately.
  • Isolate equipment and make systems safe before maintenance work.
  • Confirm electrical isolation, dead testing and de‑pressurisation of pressure systems where applicable.
  • Carry out regular housekeeping inspections to ensure:
    • Plant rooms remain clean and tidy.
    • No Health & Safety risks are present.
    • Plant operates in accordance with the building specification.
Plant Operations

Maintain a comprehensive knowledge of all plant and services under your responsibility, including:

  • Plant preparation
  • Normal and emergency plant start‑up
  • Running and operational checks
  • Plant changeover
  • Normal and emergency shutdown procedures
  • Fault finding
  • Optimising plant run times
Subcontractor Management
  • Monitor and review subcontractor performance while specialist maintenance or repair works are being undertaken on site.
  • Report any concerns regarding subcontractor performance to the Contract Supervisor or Management.
Communication
  • Maintain effective communication with clients, occupiers and colleagues.
  • Keep Business Support and the Contract Supervisor informed of work progress.
  • Communicate the impact of maintenance, repair and installation activities before works commence.
  • Share technical knowledge and skills with colleagues to support safe and efficient operations.
  • Promote professional, courteous and helpful working relationships with client representatives and engineering teams.
Emergency Response

Immediately report to the Contract Supervisor or Account Manager:

  • Health & Safety hazards
  • Critical plant failures

    Risks to personnel
  • Threats to the reliability of essential plant and services

Assist in responding to emergency situations to minimise disruption and protect personnel, property and equipment.

General Responsibilities
  • Work overtime, evenings, weekends and public holidays where required to meet business and client requirements (overtime is not guaranteed).
  • Undertake any other reasonable duties requested by the Contract Supervisor or Management.
  • Support the development of positive team relationships.
  • Maintain high standards of professionalism and customer service at all times.
