Position: FORKLIFT DRIVER

B&C Farming is a highly successful, progressive and well-respected farming, storage and haulage enterprise in the heart of the North Norfolk countryside. We are looking for a bright and motivated individual to help us continue to grow our business, working for most of the year in our cutting-edge potato storage and grading operations. You will work closely with other areas of the business.

It is a role that whilst the basic components of the job are fixed, there will be opportunities to develop and adapt the role based on the experience and skills of the person who fills it. The job is quite active, but also involves a lot of driving manual handling equipment.

Required Attributes
  • Fluent in English with strong communication skills
  • Basic numeracy skills
  • Attention to detail and conscientious
  • Able to work alone and as part of a team
  • Experienced in driving manual handling equipment with appropriate certificates
  • Adaptable in response to customer requirements and often weather driven work timescales
  • Full UK driving license
  • Experience in working as part of a team
  • Experience in working in either a farm and/or factory environment
  • Experience in working with potatoes
  • Experience in moving boxes with a forklift
  • Able to identify areas for and drive Continuous Improvement within the operation

Reporting to the Store Manager

Core Tasks within this role
  • Grading potatoes on both grader and harvester
  • Bagging seed
  • Use of telehandler
  • Potential for treating seed & cutting seed
  • Roguing cereals, sugar beet and potatoes
  • Preparation of bags of potatoes for trials, and direct to customer sales
  • General maintenance of equipment and site
  • Maintaining tidy and safe working environment
  • Occasional work on other farm activities when required
Typical working hours

November to March

Monday – Friday

Occasional Saturday mornings

April to July

Monday – Friday  with some exceptions of 18.00

Occasional Saturdays and/or Sundays part or full day

August to October

Monday – Friday

Saturday

Occasional Sundays depending on the weather

What we are offering you
  • Annual weekly average hours 45-50
  • Week days can be taken off in lieu of weekend working depending on workload
  • Basic hours 39 and overtime paid thereafter
