Maintenance Manager
As Maintenance Manager, you will be responsible for ensuring the hotel's facilities, equipment, and infrastructure are maintained to the highest standards, providing a safe, comfortable, and well-presented environment for guests and employees. You will lead the maintenance team, oversee daily operations, manage preventative maintenance programmes, drive sustainability and energy-efficiency initiatives, and ensure full compliance with health and safety requirements while supporting the overall operational success of the hotel.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead, motivate, and develop the maintenance team through effective coaching, training, and performance management.
- Plan and manage team rotas to ensure appropriate coverage across all shifts, weekends, and holiday periods.
- Oversee the completion of planned preventative maintenance schedules and reactive repairs.
- Ensure all hotel plant, machinery, equipment, and guest facilities are operating efficiently and safely.
- Manage contractor relationships, ensuring external works are completed to agreed standards and within budget.
- Monitor maintenance costs, control departmental expenditure, and support budget planning.
- Drive sustainability initiatives and energy-management programmes, identifying opportunities to reduce utility consumption, improve operational efficiency, and support environmental objectives.
- Monitor energy usage and implement measures to optimise performance across heating, ventilation, air conditioning, lighting, and water systems.
- Ensure full compliance with health and safety legislation, fire safety regulations, and company policies.
- Conduct regular property inspections, identifying maintenance needs and implementing corrective actions promptly.
- Support refurbishment projects, capital expenditure plans, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Maintain accurate maintenance records, compliance documentation, energy-monitoring data, and statutory certifications.
- Collaborate closely with all hotel departments to minimise operational disruption and maximise guest satisfaction.
- Respond promptly to emergency maintenance issues and provide practical solutions to operational challenges.
The ideal candidate will be a hands-on leader with strong technical knowledge, excellent organisational skills, and a proactive approach to team development, sustainability, problem-solving, and maintaining high operational standards.
QualificationsQualifications & Experience
- Proven experience in a Maintenance Manager or senior maintenance leadership role.
- Relevant qualification in Engineering, Electrical, Mechanical, Building Services, or a related field.
- Strong knowledge of building systems, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and fire safety.
- Experience managing maintenance teams, including rota planning and staff development.
- Good understanding of health & safety legislation and statutory compliance requirements.
- Experience managing contractors and supplier relationships.
- Strong budgeting, cost-control, and project management skills.
- Experience driving sustainability and energy-efficiency initiatives.
- Proficiency in maintenance management systems and Microsoft Office applications.
- Excellent organisational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
