Waste Operatives for The Elephant, a landmark mixed-use development at theheart of Elephant & Castle. Bringing together retail, residential andpublic spaces, The Elephant is set to become a vibrant destination where residents, visitors, retailers and communities come together.
This is a unique opportunity to join aflagship London mobilisation from day one, helping to establish standards,culture and service excellence across a brand-new development. As a Waste Operative, you will play a key role in supporting the safe, efficient and environmentally responsible management of waste and recycling across the development, helping to maintain a clean, organised and welcoming environment for everyone who visits, lives or works at The Elephant.

About the Role
As a Waste Operative, you'll play a key role in supporting the day-to-day waste and recycling operations across this exciting new destination. Working closely with retailers, contractors and site teams,you'll ensure waste is collected, segregated and managed efficiently while helping to maintain clean, safe and organised service areas throughout the development.
You'll be a proud ambassador for both Anchor Group Services and The Elephant, demonstrating professionalism, reliability and excellent customer service at all times.
Duties Include:
- Collect and manage waste and recycling materials across the development, ensuring correct segregation and disposal of all waste streams.
- Maintain waste compounds, recycling areas and service yards to a safe, clean and organised standard.
- Operate waste handling equipment, compactors andbaling equipment safely and in accordance with site procedures.
- Support retailers and occupiers with waste disposal processes, promoting compliance with site standards and recycling initiatives.
- Monitor waste storage areas, responding to operational issues and reporting contamination, capacity concerns or misuse.
- Conduct regular inspections of waste areas,identifying and reporting hazards, defects and maintenance concerns.
- Support delivery, logistics and day-to-day site operations, working closely with Cleaning, Security and Maintenance teams.
- Ensure all duties are completed in accordance with Health & Safety and environmental procedures whilst delivering aprofessional service.
- Carryout any other reasonable duties as requested by Supervisors or Site Management
- Previous experience within waste management,facilities, cleaning or operational environments.
- Good understanding of waste segregation and recycling.
- Ability to undertake manual handling and physically active duties
- Excellent attention to detail and pride in maintaining high standards.
- Ability to work independently and as part of ateam.
- Reliable, punctual and professional approach towork.
- Good communication and customer service skills.
- Flexible approach to working hours and duties.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced customer-facing environment.
- Understanding of Health & Safety responsibilities within the workplace.
