About the Role

Complete Classroom Services is seeking a motivated, reliable and conscientious School Caretaker to support the daily operation of a busy school in Northwest London.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys a varied, hands-on role and takes pride in creating a safe, welcoming and well-maintained environment for students, staff and visitors.

The successful candidate will support the day-to-day running of the school site, including general maintenance, site security, health and safety checks, contractor coordination and the overall presentation of the premises.

Key Responsibilities

* Carry out daily site inspections to identify maintenance issues and ensure the school remains safe and operational.

* Undertake minor repairs, decorating tasks and general maintenance across the school site.

* Inspect doors, windows, gates, fencing and other site security features, reporting defects where necessary.

* Assist with monitoring heating, ventilation and water systems to ensure facilities are functioning effectively.

* Support the management of contractor visits and ensure works are completed safely and efficiently.

* Maintain external areas including playgrounds, sports areas, pathways and landscaped spaces.

* Ensure school equipment, furniture and fixtures are kept in good working order.

* Assist with room moves, furniture relocations and classroom reconfigurations when required.

* Carry out routine checks of emergency lighting, fire exits and other safety-related equipment.

* Assist with seasonal site duties, including leaf clearance, gritting pathways and weather-related preparations.

* Maintain accurate maintenance records and report completed works to the school leadership team.

* Respond promptly to requests from staff and assist in resolving day-to-day facilities issues.

* Support the school in maintaining a clean, secure and professional environment.

The Ideal Candidate Will Have

* Previous experience as a Caretaker, Site Assistant, Maintenance Operative or Facilities Assistant.

* Good practical knowledge of general building maintenance and repairs.

* Ability to identify and resolve maintenance issues efficiently.

* Understanding of workplace health and safety practices.

* Strong communication and teamwork skills.

* Ability to manage workload effectively and work independently when required.

* Reliable, flexible and proactive approach to work.

* Basic IT skills for communication and record-keeping.

* A professional and approachable manner when dealing with staff, students, visitors and contractors.

Desirable Qualifications & Experience

Previous experience working within a school, academy or educational environment.

Enhanced DBS subscribed to the Update Service.

Health & Safety qualification such as IOSH Working Safely or equivalent.

Experience carrying out basic trade tasks including carpentry, plumbing, decorating or general DIY.

Knowledge of safeguarding procedures within schools.

Experience supporting building compliance and site inspections.

Experience working with contractors and external maintenance providers.
