Treehouse Nursery Schools in East London is delighted to announce an exciting opportunity for a reliable, proactive, and hardworking Housekeeper to join our outstanding nursery team.

As a UNICEF Rights Respecting Nursery committed to fostering children’s personal, emotional, and social development, we understand the importance of providing a clean, safe, hygienic, and welcoming environment for every child, family, and member of staff.

At Treehouse, we are proud to be a Rights Respecting Nursery School, embedding the principles of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC) into every aspect of our practice. We are looking for someone who takes pride in their work and understands the importance of maintaining high standards of cleanliness, hygiene, and safety within an early years setting.

As part of our outstanding setting, you will play an important role in maintaining a clean, organised, and safe environment for children and staff. Your responsibilities will include:

Keeping the nursery clean, tidy, and hygienic throughout the day, including communal areas, staff areas, and other designated spaces.
• Toilet and bathroom hygiene:
Ensuring children's toilets, bathrooms, and changing areas are cleaned regularly and maintained to a high standard of hygiene.
• Laundry duties:
Washing, drying, folding, and organising nursery laundry, including bedding, towels, bibs, and other items as required.
• Washing up:
Supporting the kitchen team with washing up, cleaning dishes and utensils, and keeping washing-up areas clean and organised.
• Delivery support:
Assisting with the receipt, unloading, checking, and safe storage of food deliveries, supplies, and other nursery items.
• Toy and equipment cleaning:
Regularly cleaning and sanitising toys, play equipment, and frequently touched surfaces to help prevent the spread of germs and maintain children's safety.
• Garden and outdoor areas:
Ensuring the garden and outdoor play areas remain clean, tidy, and free from rubbish, debris, and other potential hazards.
• Health and safety:
Identifying and reporting hazards, spillages, damaged equipment, and maintenance issues promptly to help maintain a safe environment for children and staff.
• Stock and supplies:
Monitoring cleaning products, laundry supplies, and general housekeeping stock, reporting when items need replenishing.
• Safe cleaning practices:
Using cleaning products and equipment safely, following COSHH guidance, and ensuring all cleaning materials are stored securely and out of children's reach.
• Teamwork:
Working collaboratively with nursery practitioners, kitchen staff, and management to support the smooth running of the nursery throughout the day.
• General housekeeping:
Supporting additional cleaning and housekeeping tasks as needed to ensure the nursery remains welcoming, organised, and ready for daily activities.

This role is more than a housekeeping position — it is an opportunity to make a meaningful contribution to children's health, wellbeing, and everyday experiences.

You will be joining a growing organisation with ambitious goals and a compassionate ethos, where every member of the team plays an important part in creating a positive, nurturing, and safe environment for children to learn and grow.
