We are looking for a Laboratory Support Technician to join a specialist research facility, supporting the day-to-day running of its animal facilities. This is a hands‑on role suited to someone who takes pride in maintaining high standards of cleanliness, hygiene and animal welfare within a regulated laboratory environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate cage washing equipment and cleaning machinery to clean and disinfect animal cages, racks, bottles and associated equipment.
  • Ensure all equipment is cleaned, processed and prepared to the required hygiene standards.
  • Maintain a clean, organised and safe working environment across the cage wash and animal facility areas.
  • Follow standard operating procedures, health and safety requirements and relevant biosecurity protocols.
  • Monitor equipment performance and report any faults or maintenance requirements.
  • Ensure clean and soiled equipment is handled and stored appropriately to prevent cross‑contamination.
  • Work closely with animal facility and laboratory teams to ensure equipment is available when required.
  • Maintain accurate records of cleaning cycles and other relevant activities.

What are we looking for?

  • Previous experience in a cage wash, laboratory cleaning, animal facility or similar regulated environment would be advantageous.
  • An understanding of hygiene, disinfection and contamination control procedures.
  • Comfortable undertaking practical, physically demanding work.
  • A reliable and organised approach, with good attention to detail.
  • The ability to follow written procedures and work effectively as part of a team.
  • A strong commitment to health and safety and maintaining high standards of cleanliness.
