A leading environmental consultancy is seeking a Technical Director of Ecology to join its growing London team. This is a senior leadership opportunity for an ecologist with a strong technical background, proven project delivery expertise, and a desire to help shape the future of a dynamic and forward-thinking consultancy.

The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in leading complex ecological projects, supporting high-profile developments, and mentoring a talented team of ecologists. The role offers a balance of strategic input, client engagement, and technical oversight, with the opportunity to influence business direction at the highest level.

Key Responsibilities:

Provide technical leadership on ecological matters across a diverse range of projects, including infrastructure, residential, and mixed-use developments.

Oversee the design and delivery of ecological surveys, assessments, and mitigation strategies.

Lead on project direction, QA, and technical review to ensure work meets the highest professional standards.

Develop and maintain strong client relationships, offering expert advice and contributing to business development.

Mentor and support junior and mid-level team members, promoting technical excellence and career growth.

Keep up to date with changes in UK legislation, policy, and industry best practice.

What They're Looking For:

Extensive experience in ecological consultancy, with a strong technical background and leadership capabilities.

Degree (and ideally postgraduate qualification) in Ecology, Environmental Science, or a related field.

In-depth knowledge of UK wildlife legislation, planning policy, and ecological best practice.

Proven ability to manage complex projects and multidisciplinary teams.

Excellent communication skills and commercial awareness.
