House Manager / Head Butler to support UHNWI (Mayfair, London)
Martis Search is representing an Ultra High Net Worth Individual (UHNWI) who is urgently seeking a permanent “House Manager / Head Butler.”
This position is based primarily at the principal’s residence in Mayfair, London, with frequent international travel required. Travel may involve being abroad for several weeks at a time to support the principal.
The successful candidate will manage the London household team, including rota planning, scheduling, and ensuring the smooth running of daily operations. Applicants must have proven experience working as a House Manager or Head Butler within a UHNWI household, demonstrating the highest levels of discretion, professionalism, and understanding of the unique demands that accompany such environments.
Key Responsibilities Household & Team Management- Oversee and manage all household staff
- Create and manage rotas and work schedules
- Conduct household inspections and report repairs for principal approval
- Oversee external contractors, service providers, and suppliers
- Maintain household inventories
- Provide formal butler service and waiting duties
- Assist the principal in the morning (dressing room support)
- Prepare and serve light meals, including:
- Breakfasts
- Prepare and serve cocktails for the family and guests
- Greet all guests with a warm, professional manner
- Care for fine art, antiques, silverware, glassware, China, tapestries and luxury fabrics
- (Includes polishing and organising an extensive silver collection)
- Manage flowers for the house
- Handle packing and unpacking (specific training provided)
- Hands‑on cleaning when required
- Laundry, ironing and luxury wardrobe care
- Grocery shopping at specific stores
- Running errands for the family
- Driving duties (excellent driving skills required)
- Animal care, including dog walking, feeding, and vet visits
- Travel internationally with the principal as required
- Train overseas household staff
- Exceptional discretion and confidentiality
- Strong multi‑tasking and organisational skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication
- Leadership skills and a collaborative, team‑oriented approach
- High level of common sense and problem‑solving ability
- Flexibility regarding hours and travel
- Willingness to learn and adapt
Circa £90,000 plus a small annual bonus, pension, healthcare
